Welcome

At St. Paul’s, we seek to welcome everyone, and by everyone we mean…

We welcome each person who is seeking to know God, to love others, and to know and love themselves better.

We welcome those who are single, married, partnered, or unattached.

We welcome people who are straight as an arrow, straight but not narrow, LGBTQIA+, and people who aren’t sure where they fall.

We welcome those who are working hard, those who are hardly working, and those whose careers are now behind them.

We welcome natives and newcomers, island-lovers, and OTB’ers. (That’s local talk for Over-the-Bridge).  We welcome you if you made a wrong turn and ended up here by mistake.

We welcome those who are over 60 but not grown up yet, as well as teenagers who are growing up too fast.  We love soccer moms and surfer dads, doting grandparents and those whose kids are of the furry variety.

We welcome you if you are the kind of person who wants to help sea turtles find their way to the ocean, or if you like to go fishing for what’s already there.

We welcome you if you can belt it like Beyonce, or if all you can do is make a joyful noise.

You’re welcome here if you’re just looking, just woke up, or just got released.  It doesn’t matter if you’ve never missed a Sunday or if this is the only time you’ve been in church other than weddings and funerals.  We even welcome you if you’re only here because Grandma is in town and wanted to go to church.

We welcome vegetarians and red-meat eaters, and especially those who don’t get enough to eat.  We have beer drinkers and wine sippers and those who stay away from the hard stuff.

We don’t care if you identify as Red or Blue, or if you don’t really identify with politics at all.

We offer a special welcome to anyone who could use a prayer right now, if you’re having problems, or you are suffering in body, mind, or spirit.

If your faith is strong or if your doubts are too, if you are seeking, or if you don’t know what it is you’re looking for, you have a place among us.

And if we didn’t quite cover you in any of the above, please know that you are still welcome.  After all, Christ invites everyone to the Table.

Come on…open your heart and mind…and walk through God’s doors at St. Paul’s.

We believe y’all means all and that includes you.
