ADVENT AND CHRISTMAS AT ST. PAUL’S

advent-christmas

The people of St. Paul’s invite you to rediscover the meaning of Christmas this season.  Advent is a time of anticipation – looking forward to the celebration of Christmas, while also looking forward to the time when peace will reign in our hearts and in our world.  You can discover it for yourself by worshiping with us on Sunday mornings at 8:30 for the casual service and 11am for traditional worship.  During these weeks our pastor, Shawn Blackwelder, will be doing a sermon series called “Word Made Flesh.”  It’s a reminder of the fact that Jesus, the eternal Word, “became flesh and lived among us.” (John 1:14)  Each Sunday, Pastor Shawn will focus on a one-word theme from the scripture.

Along with our Sunday services, there are also lots of other special activities for the season:

Wednesday, November 30th at 5pm – Stealing Time

Enjoy a concert by local band Stealing Time, featuring lots of your favorites, plus sounds of the season.

Wednesday, December 7th at 7pm – Soup Dinner and Poster-Making

Come and warm yourself up with some homemade soups, and stay to help us paint some life-size posters that will become banners for the sanctuary.

December 11th at 5pm – Singalong Cantata and Christmas Pageant

Join the choir and children of St. Paul’s to remember the Christmas story and sing your favorite carols!  Followed by desserts and hot chocolate in the fellowship hall.

December 14th at 7pm – Advent Poster-Making and Christmas Cookies

Share some homemade Christmas cookies as we finish our posters together.

December 24th at 7pm – Christmas Eve Candlelight Service

Gather with friends and family as we begin the celebration of Christmas with this traditional service that includes carols, special music, Holy Communion, and candlelight.

Christmas Day – One Worship Service at 10am

It’s the birthday of our Lord, so of course we are having worship!  It will be just one service, though, as we gather to sing carols and celebrate the wonder of Christmas Day together.
