DO YOU HAVE YOUR TALENTS?

In his sermon this past Sunday, Pastor Shawn used Jesus’ parable for the talents from Matthew 25:14-29, and he encouraged us to put our talents and gifts to use in a particular way.  Each person was given $5 or $10 to put to use in some way, then we will return what we have earned with our “investments” in a special service on Sunday, September 1st.  All proceeds will benefit the Community Life Center.
If you were not in worship at St. Paul’s on Sunday, we encourage you to come by the office and pick yours up.  The office is open from 9am to 1pm, Monday through Friday.  How do we want you to use it?  That’s entirely up to you, as God leads you.  It’s really very simple:

1)     Accept the gift that you have been given.  There are no strings attached.  We even realize that there may be some risk of losing it.  That’s okay; the first step is acceptance.

2)     Put the gift to work, using your own talents, hard work, and imagination.  You can do something on your own, or you can combine what you have with others and do something even bigger.  Buy the ingredients to make a special cake and sell it to the highest bidder.  Purchase some paint and a canvas and create your own masterpiece to sell.  Set up an impromptu photo booth for tourists on the Boardwalk and sell them the pictures.  Invest in a business venture of some sort.  Invest in yourself!

3)     Return what you’ve earned on Sunday, September 1st.  And hopefully, some of you will be willing to share your stories of what you’ve done with your talents and gifts.
