Hey Kids!

Are you ready for the next episode?  Here it is –

Hope you enjoy it!

Here are some activities you can do this week that go along with the story.

Daily Prayer

Dear God,
Thank you that you love us!
Thank you that you are so generous to us!
We love you too!
Amen.

Food From the Grapeyard

Do you like grapes?  What about Sour Patch Kids?  Here is a way to make your grapes taste like Sour Patch Kids – get an adult to help you make this fun snack and while you are eating, thank God for those who worked to pick the grapes for you.

INGREDIENTS

  • Green or red seedless grapes
  • 1 box green apple or watermelon gelatin

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. Place the grapes in a strainer and wash well. Leave them in the strainer to drip dry a bit
  2. Pour the jello powder onto a plate then roll the damp grapes in the powder until coated. Place in the fridge for one hour to allow the jello to set and serve cold.

Make Your Own Glitter Grape Galaxy Dough

Get an adult to help for this one!

To make your own grape scented galaxy dough, you will need:

1 cup water

1/2 cup salt

2 tsp. cream of tartar

2 tbsp. oil

1 cup flour

1 packet unsweetened grape flavored drink mix

variety of glitter (optional)

Combine water, salt, cream of tartar, and packet of drink mix in a medium saucepan. Cook on low heat while stirring, and add the oil. Next, slowly add in the flour a little at a time. Keep stirring until it starts to pull away from the pan, then transfer to a cutting board to cool. As soon as it is cool enough to touch, begin kneading the dough. It will become a lovely play dough consistency with a grape scent to it, and then it’s time to knead in the glitter!!

Fair or Unfair?

Read the following scenarios to your children one at a time. After each, ask: Is it fair or unfair? How would you feel in that situation?

1. You are left out of the midweek soccer team because you will not play in the Saturday league.

2. You have saved for a long time and finally bought a new MP3 player for yourself. Then someone buys an
identical player and gives it to your brother or sister.

3. Someone else won a game your class is playing together. You know they cheated.

4. You come in first to win a race, but everyone who ran is given the same prize.

5. You and your brother (or sister) have been asked to cut the grass and clean up the yard after school. You cut
the grass, but your brother (or sister) plays with friends. Your father thanks you both for doing the work.

6. You and your sister (or brother) are supposed to go to bed at 8:00. Your sister (or brother) plays with
friends instead of doing homework after school. You do your homework, then play. When bedtime comes, your
sister (or brother) is allowed to stay up late to get her (or his) homework done.

Debriefing
Allow response time as you ask: How does God want us to treat each other when things seem unfair? Let’s
read Matthew 5:43-48 together. Allow time. If we are to treat others as God would treat them, what should we do
in all these situations? (Treat people better than they deserve.) Isn’t it good to know that God loves us and treats us the same even when things that seem unfair happen?
